July 21, 2017 – Saint-Félix-de-Valois, Quebec – Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

As a result of an investment of over $3.2M by the Government of Canada, families in the Lanaudière region will be able to benefit from upgraded recreational areas and modern community facilities. The funding provided will generate more than $7M in related investment by other partners, such as non-profit organizations and municipalities.

These contributions were announced today by David Lametti, Parliamentary Secretary to the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED.

The funding earmarked for Lanaudière communities will go towards supporting 17 different projects targeting bike paths and hiking trails, community centres, swimming pools and arenas.

This investment was made through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP 150), a $300M fund set up to celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary. The Program supports the renovation or upgrading, including the expansion, of community infrastructure that brings Canadians together. Up to $63.5M of this funding will be spent in Quebec.
