Acier Profilé S.B.B. can complete major expansion project

News Release

Government of Canada grants $250,000 in financial assistance to Blainville business

October 13, 2017 – Blainville, Quebec – Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

In 2017, the Government of Canada adopted an ambitious approach to support innovative businesses and help grow the Canadian economy. When we support promising projects that drive innovation, we are effectively helping Canadian entrepreneurs and workers succeed in the new economy. Today’s announcement aligns with the Canadian government’s strategy to drive enterprises and support the creation of sustainable jobs for communities. The funding granted to Acier Profilé S.B.B. (SBB) will help with the acquisition of leading-edge equipment and result in the creation of two jobs in the region.

The announcement was made by Ramez Ayoub, Member of Parliament for Thérèse-De Blainville, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED.

SBB, an SME that specializes in the design and manufacture of aluminum modular structures, has been granted $250,000 in financial support for the acquisition and installation of computerized numeric control equipment. The new equipment will help increase the business’s productivity and production capacity. By automating part of its production line, SBB will be able to reduce the number of steps in the manufacture of its emergency towers. In addition, this project will strengthen the enterprise’s position as world leader in the manufacture of aluminum modular structures used as emergency towers in more than 50 countries.

The funding, in the form of a repayable contribution, has been granted through CED’s Quebec Economic Development Program within the larger framework of the Government of Canada’s Innovation and Skills Plan.
