Backgrounder: details of contributions awarded to four companies in Montérégie and Centre-du-Québec

Backgrounder

May 22, 2019 – ACTON VALE, QUEBECCanada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

Hamrforge, Agrimetal, Beaulieu Canada Company, and MR Industries will be able to continue growing by receiving repayable contributions totalling $1,540,000 from Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions.

Rémi Massé, Member of Parliament for Avignon–La Mitis–Matane–Matapédia and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, announced that funding today. The funding awarded by the Government of Canada will enable the recipient companies to achieve the objectives that they have set for themselves. Carrying out their respective projects will generate total investments of over $6 million and create 39 new jobs in Montérégie and Centre-du-Québec.

The financial assistance is awarded under CED’s Quebec Economic Development Program and Regional Economic Growth through Innovation program.

Hamrforge Inc.

Repayable contribution of $460,000 out of a total investment of $1,590,000

Founded in 2017, Hamrforge Inc. is a start-up manufacturing company specializing in the design, manufacture and marketing of high-quality outdoor cooking appliances of the BBQ and smoker type.

The project, which created 10 jobs, was aimed at starting up and growing this new company in the production and marketing of its products. CED’s contribution went towards purchasing and installing advanced-technology automated production equipment and purchasing engineering software for the development of new products.

Agrimetal Inc.
(Immeuble MFP 1006 Inc.)

Repayable contribution of $400,000 out of a total investment of $2,017,314

Founded in 1980 and incorporated in 1989, Agrimetal is a manufacturing company that specializes in manufacturing lawn maintenance equipment. Its product line includes seeders, rotary brushes, rollers, leaf blowers, and commercial snow blowers.

The project aims to support the company’s growth through the purchase of digital equipment and the robotization of some of the production phases. CED’s contribution will, among other things, help with purchasing a robotic welding cell, an automated loading tower, a numeric control machining centre and various pieces of digital equipment.

The project will create two jobs.

Beaulieu Canada Company Ltd.

Repayable contribution of $400,000 out of a total investment of $1,980,000

Founded in 1954 ad then purchased in 1989 by Beaulieu, this manufacturing company specializes in manufacturing, distributing and selling floor coverings. A leader in the Canadian textile industry and member of Beaulieu International Group headquartered in Belgium, the company manufactures a wide range of woven products, such as tufted carpets, and distributes several types of flooring.

The project aims to support the company’s growth and expansion through the deployment of a marketing strategy for international markets. CED’s assistance covers a portion of the costs involved with establishing the marketing strategy.

The project will create 25 jobs.

MR Industries Inc.
(Gestion Stéphane Cholette inc.)

Repayable contribution of $280,000 out of a total investment of $700,000

Founded in 1992, MR Industries specializes in conventional and digital machining of medium- and large-sized metal parts, primarily steel. It serves a client base that consists mainly of medium and large companies, especially in the manufacturing and mining sectors.

The project aims to ensure the company’s growth by boosting its productivity and optimizing its production capacity. CED’s contribution is going towards the purchase and installation of advanced-technology automated production equipment, such as an automated digital milling machine and a rotary-feed table.

The project will create two jobs.
