October 12, 2018 – Oakville, Ontario

The Government of Canada is committed to building a strong clean-growth economy to benefit all Canadians. This is demonstrated by an investment in GVA Lighting, Inc., a company poised to scale-up and to be more innovative and competitive with its leading-edge, energy-efficient LED lighting technology.

Today, the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), announced a FedDev Ontario investment of over $2.1 million in GVA Lighting to increase its manufacturing and testing capabilities.

With FedDev Ontario’s investment, GVA Lighting is able to purchase leading-edge equipment to scale-up production capacity at its new 98,000-square-foot facility in Oakville, Ontario. This expansion project will create up to 49 full-time jobs in southern Ontario, and help improve product testing and design for extreme environmental conditions. In addition, this project will help the company grow its presence in existing and new export markets.

This project aligns with the Government of Canada’s Innovation and Skills Plan, a plan to make Canada a world leader in innovation and create well-paying jobs from coast to coast to coast.
