Government of Canada supports green technology in Mississauga

FedDev Ontario invests $2 million in Lorama Group Inc. to scale up production, commercialize sustainable bioproducts and create 20 new jobs.

Many Canadian businesses in critical sectors are striving for sustainability while at the same time increasing their efficiency. To support this important work, the Government of Canada is making investments in these innovative strategies to grow a stronger, greener and more resilient economy for all Canadians.

Today, on behalf of the Honourable Helena Jaczek, Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), Rechie Valdez, Member of Parliament for Mississauga–Streetsville, announced an investment of $2 million for Lorama Group Inc. to commercialize and scale up production of its green adhesive products.

Lorama Group, located in Mississauga, is a leading manufacturer and distributor of colourants and additives in the paints and coatings sector. With today's investment, Lorama will acquire advanced manufacturing equipment to commercialize and scale production of its novel, renewable, non-toxic bio-adhesive used in wood composite products. This investment will also create up to 20 new jobs in the Mississauga region.

The Government of Canada is committed to investing in clean economic growth by prioritizing projects that demonstrate clean growth outcomes, and promote the development and adoption of clean technologies.

  • Founded in 1977, Lorama Group Inc. employs 85 people and was awarded the BASF Kaolin Global Distributor of the Year award and the Regional Distributor of the Year award in 2019.

  • For over 40 years Lorama Group has supplied commercially cost-effective sustainable solutions, helping customers thrive in highly competitive markets. In addition to having six global labs, the main laboratory is situated in Mississauga, housing the R&D, technical services and colour services group.

  • In 2021, Lorama Group received a $2.6 million-investment from Sustainable Development Technology Canada to develop its bio-adhesive product.
