“As Canada’s Minister of Families, Children and Social Development, I am pleased to celebrate International Volunteer Day today. This day highlights the ongoing efforts of volunteers around the world, and the importance of donating time and energy for the benefit of others.
Nearly 13 million Canadian volunteers work together to care for people and ensure the sustainability of charities, not-for-profit organizations, and communities. Volunteers come from all walks of life and their united efforts help build key partnerships that solve complex social issues in society.
I am proud of the role that Employment and Social Development Canada plays in supporting the tremendous volunteer engagement of Canadians within and across communities.
The Government of Canada thanks all volunteers who work tirelessly for our collective well-being. Their daily acts of kindness set an example for us all.”
