Prepare to apply
The process includes 2 phases:
- Expression of interest: Interested organizations must indicate
- A mass layoff has occurred that meets the definition for funding eligibility
- The mass layoff will have a significant impact on the community
- Local labour market conditions make it difficult for affected works to transition to new jobs
- Application: Full application is assessed against all requirements.
Prepare to Submit an Expression of Interest
The following information is required to assess your expression of interest and must all be included in your submission.
- The exact date of the mass layoff(s) (YYYY-MM-DD). If layoffs occurred on multiple days, please include each specific date.
- The name of the community and postal code of the workplace experiencing the mass layoff.
- The number of individuals laid off. If your request is for multiple dates, list the number of individuals by date.
- The 3-digit North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code or sub-industry for the business or employer where the layoff occurred. Please refer to Statistics Canada for guidance.
- The name of the employer undergoing the layoff(s)
- Source of information regarding the layoff and the number of employees affected. This includes but is not limited to: news reports, corporate messaging, union announcements, letter from community organization.
- Evidence to demonstrate local labour market conditions make it difficult for affected workers to transition to new jobs.
- For expressions of interest with multiple layoffs: A rationale for why the layoffs should be addressed as one project is required.
