In 2024, the Canada Summer Jobs program contributed over $293 million in wage subsidies to more than 26,450 employers across Canada.

Thanks to these employers, the program provided over 71,200 full-time, quality job experiences for youth throughout the summer.

Youth gained experience in all kinds of jobs, with some of the most popular being in:

  • Community services
  • Marketing
  • Day camps
  • Recreation programs
  • Natural resources

Of youth who participated in the program this year:

  • 8% identified as Indigenous
  • 25% identified as racialized
  • 5% identified as a youth with a disability
  • 63% identified as female or another gender other than male

In a survey of employers and youth who participated in the program this year:

  • 96% of employers were satisfied with their experience
  • 99% of employers saw an improvement in youths' employment-related skills
  • 99% of employers plan to support youth after the end of their CSJ-funded job
  • 93% of employers provided more than one job support or accommodation to their participants
  • 94% of youth respondents were satisfied with their experience
  • 92% of youth respondents gained confidence in multiple employment-related skills
  • 87% of youth respondents felt optimistic about their future employment after participating
  • 87% of youth respondents indicated they would be employed, in school, or in training after their summer job
