Publication of the Regulations Amending the Canada Education Savings Regulations (Miscellaneous Program)

Purpose

To inform promoters of the coming into force of the Regulations Amending the Canada Education Savings Regulations (Miscellaneous Program).

Background

The Standing Joint Committee for the Scrutiny of Regulations identified minor issues with the Canada Education Savings Regulations. The committee recommended amending the regulations to address these issues.

The regulatory amendments are non-substantial and have no costs associated with them.

What the changes include

The amendments correct a discrepancy between the English and French versions of the regulations. They also harmonize terms used in multiple subsections.

For a description of the amendments, please see the Regulatory Impact Analysis Statement published in the Canada Gazette Part II.

The promoter and trustee agreements remain unchanged.

Coming into force

The Regulations Amending the Canada Education Savings Regulations (Miscellaneous Program) have been made. They were published in the Canada Gazette Part II on June 8, 2022 and took effect on this date. Refer to the official pdf and non-official html versions.
