“A healthy environment is important in so many ways, and knowing I play a part in protecting the environment is all the motivation I need.”

Meet Whitney Burr! She is an Environmental Enforcement Officer that has been with Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) for just over 2 years, and based out of Yellowknife, NWT. Her favorite thing about her career is being able to travel to beautiful and remote places in the north where she is able to see a wild and untouched landscape. Whitney also loves all the survival and outdoor skills she has learned through working at ECCC. Whitney’s greatest memory so far was her trip to the Mackenzie Mountains in Nahanni National Park, where she flew from Yellowknife to the mountains via helicopter. Due to the low cloud cover, Whitney had to travel through channels in the mountains rather than flying above, which gave her close-up views of the wildlife and landscapes below.

Whitney feels fortunate that she is able to make positive changes to protect the environment and prevent further damage through enforcement.
