Canada's Environment and Climate Change Minister to take part in key meeting before Paris climate conference

Canada’s participation in the Pre-COP ministerial meeting underscores the importance of international collaboration in achieving climate change agreement.

November 7, 2015 – Gatineau, Quebec – Environment and Climate Change Canada

The Honourable Catherine McKenna, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, will travel to Paris and engage with her international counterparts from November 8 to 10. At this meeting, the Minister will share Canada’s desire to be a strong and positive actor working with all countries to secure an effective agreement ahead of the Paris climate conference.

This Pre-COP ministerial meeting is hosted by Laurent Fabius, French Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, and Manuel Pulgar Vidal, Peruvian Minister of State for the Environment and current President of the COP. This meeting allows ministers to discuss key issues and seek common ground for a successful conclusion to the Paris outcome.

During the trip, Minister McKenna will participate in bilateral meetings, including with Minister Fabius, the upcoming COP21 President.
