April 15, 2016 – Washington, D.C. – Environment and Climate Change Canada

At major international meetings organized by the World Bank, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, the Honourable Catherine McKenna, met with representatives from countries around the world to encourage the adoption of carbon pricing as a strategy to reduce emissions and stimulate investments in green infrastructure and low-carbon innovation.

The Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition (CPLC) held high-level assembly meetings on April 14 and 15 in Washington, D.C. The CPLC works to foster the successful international implementation of carbon pricing.

Minister McKenna addressed the high-level assembly, where attendees included World Bank President Jim Yong Kim and United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

While in Washington, Minister McKenna also held a series of bilateral meetings with representatives of world financial organizations and national banks, and her international ministerial counterparts in environment, sustainable development and foreign affairs to strengthen collaboration on the adoption of carbon pricing as a mechanism to lower emissions globally.
