Minister McKenna to launch global celebrations of the Montreal Protocol’s 30th anniversary

Montréal, Quebec – September 12, 2017 – Media representatives are advised that the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Catherine McKenna, will join her counterparts from other nations to launch the global campaign celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Montreal Protocol—the international agreement that combats damage to the ozone layer, helping mitigate the effects of climate change. Minister McKenna will give remarks as will the European Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy, Miguel Arias Cañete, and the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Environment Programme’s Ozone Secretariat, Tina Birmpili.
