Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Sixth Assessment Report

Overview

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) latest assessment cycle was launched in 2015 and will culminate with the release of the full Sixth Assessment Report in 2022, which will be the most comprehensive assessment of knowledge on climate change since the IPCC’s last assessment in 2014.

The IPCC will produce eight reports as part of the Sixth Assessment Report cycle: one from each of the IPCC’s three Working Groups; a synthesis report that will integrate findings from across the Working Group reports, three special reports; and a refinement to the 2006 IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories. Hundreds of experts from around the world will contribute to the development of these reports, which will be released between 2018 and 2022 according to the following schedule:

The IPCC will launched a call for nominations for authors and review editors for the Sixth Assessment Report in fall 2017. It is anticipated that the IPCC will confirm selected candidates in winter 2018.
