Trade in protected species: CITES registration forms
To simplify the permit process, scientific institutions (for example museums, etc.) can register with the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) Canada Permit Office. The list of CITES registered scientific institutions is published: Register of scientific institutions.
Captive breeding programs can also apply to register with the CITES Canada Permit Office to trade Appendix I animal species internationally for commercial purposes. Please note that the breeding operation can only be registered if the specimens produced by the operation qualify as “bred in captivity (PDF, 147KB)”. The list of CITES registered captive breeding operations is published: Register of captive-breeding operations.
