Trade in protected species: Relevant authorities
The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) permitting is mainly administered within Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), with some permitting delegated to other federal departments and to a few provinces and territories. They are responsible for issuing CITES permits for wildlife species harvested and exported from their jurisdictions.
