Official Title: Comments on the draft screening assessment report (dSAR) for the Poly(bios) group of substances to be addressed in the third phase of the Chemicals Management Plan (CMP).

A summary of comments and responses is included below, organized by topic:

Risk characterization

Summarized comment Summarized response
Previous evaluation of the polymer rapid screening process under CMP2 concluded that these five substances required further evaluation. Also, the current dSAR concludes that no further action is proposed for these substances because they do not meet Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA) toxic criteria. However, there are additional substances in the Poly(bios) grouping still to be assessed that are of interest to Canadians.

While there were originally 40 substances included in the Poly(bios) grouping, 35 of the poly(bios) substances were concluded not to meet the criteria under section 64 of CEPA under Phase II of the Polymer Rapid Screening approach.

The remaining five Poly(bios) substances were further  assessed in the most recent dSAR and concluded not to meet the criteria under section 64 of CEPA. No additional Poly(bios) substances have been prioritized for assessment at this time.
