Canada-Quebec Nature Agreement: summary

On March 10, 2025, the governments of Canada and Quebec announced an agreement for the protection and conservation of nature in Quebec. Under this agreement, the Government of Canada is committed to investing up to $100 million by 2027 to support Quebec's 2030 Nature Plan and Quebec’s implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework in Quebec. Canada's 2030 Nature Strategy describes how Canada will implement the ambitious nature protection goals set out in the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.

The 2030 Nature Plan is the framework policy for biodiversity conservation in Quebec. It was developed following the adoption of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. It includes three priority areas for action, and the Government of Canada’s funding will support related targets, more specifically:
