2011 Amendments to the Regulations:

The Regulations Amending the Tetrachloroethylene (Use in Dry Cleaning and Reporting Requirements) Regulations (Miscellaneous Program) (SOR/2011-216) came into force on September 30, 2011. The proposed amendments were developed to align the English and French versions of the Regulations, to improve clarity of the regulatory text and to enhance ease of reporting. The Amendments do not make any subtantive changes to the Regulations.

2003 Parent Regulations:

The original Regulations, Tetrachloroethylene (Use in Dry Cleaning and Reporting Requirements) Regulations (SOR/2003-79), were passed into law on February 27, 2003. These Regulations are based on the key recommendations in the Strategic Options Report on stakeholder consultation.

Strategic Options Report:

The Tetrachloroethylene (Use in Dry Cleaning and Reporting Requirements) Regulations are based on the key recommendations from the 1996 report of stakeholder consultations on the Strategic Options for the Management of Tetrachloroethylene in the dry-cleaning sector. This report can be obtained by contacting us.

Regulatory text is also available in other languages, but these translations have no legal status. If there are any discrepancies or inconsistencies between the English/French versions and the other translated versions, the English/French version will prevail.

The "official" printed version can be purchased through Canadian Government Publishing on a subscription or single copy basis. It is also available in most libraries through the Depository Services Program.
