Delegation of authority agreements

Section 8 of the Species at Risk Act allows the competent minister to enter into a delegation of authority agreement with any government in Canada, after consultation with the other two ministers. This type of agreement allows the competent minister to delegate any of his powers or functions under the Act, relating to its enforcement. Under the agreement, the delegate must provide an annual report on all activities undertaken for the delegating minister.
