There are a number of ways in which ECCC and its partners provide information on the use and conservation of water. Many of these activities are discussed throughout this report, including in the section on ecosystem initiatives.

ECCC’s Water website provides general information on a wide range of water-related topics, comprehensive educational materials (such as A Primer on Fresh Water) and the full text of key water publications (such as the Canada Water Act Annual Report, and the Federal Water Policy). In addition, the site provides content on ECCC’s water-related activities and program areas.

ECCC’s Wateroffice provides public access to real-time and archived hydrometric data collected in Canada. In 2014-2015, the Wateroffice website received over 62 million hits (approximately 1.2 M visits).

Real-time hydrometric data is also now available on ECCC’s Datamart, for partners to directly upload data into their own software systems.
