What is a supervisory agency?
Supervisory agencies are independent bodies that supervise and monitor all marketing boards within their respective province. They ensure that individual marketing boards operate within their respective legislative mandate. Supervisory agencies typically report directly to their provincial or territorial Minister of Agriculture.
What is a marketing board?
Varies in each province but generally marketing boards represent producers of one or more agricultural commodities and can regulate the production, sale, processing, marketing, and pricing of the agri-food products they oversee. Their boards of directors are normally elected by producers.
