Government of Canada Invests $377,800 in Six Community Infrastructure Projects in Northwestern Ontario

November 2, 2016 – Kenora, ON – Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario – FedNor
Bob Nault, Member of Parliament for Kenora, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for FedNor, today announced an investment of $377,800 in support of six infrastructure projects in communities and First Nations across Northwestern Ontario.
Provided through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP 150), this funding will support infrastructure improvements to community centres, recreation facilities and social gathering places through the following recipients: Bearskin Lake First Nation; Longbow Lake Improved Access Corporation; Naotkamegwanning First Nation; Township of Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls; Township of Ignace; and Ochiichagwe'Babigo'Ining Ojibway Nation.

- The CIP 150 funding is part of the Government of Canada's coordinated approach to mark the 150th anniversary of Confederation. The program is designed to leave a lasting legacy by supporting the rehabilitation or improvement of existing community infrastructure assets and facilities across the country that promote community and cultural benefits for the public.
- FedNor is delivering this program in Northern Ontario with an allocation of $10.4 million over two years, ending March 31st, 2018.
