Government of Canada Invests to Replace Roof on Thelma Miles Historical Museum

January 20, 2017 – Black River-Matheson, ON – Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario – FedNor
The Government of Canada is investing $46,750 to replace the roof on the Black River-Matheson museum. The funding will also assist with the installation of new insulation, soffit and facia, as well as plumbing and siding. The repairs are designed to address leaks and improve the facility's energy efficiency.
The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for FedNor, today announced this Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program investment. The museum, which operates seasonally during the summer months, has more than 20,000 artifacts on display for historical, educational and exhibition viewing.
The Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP 150) funding, delivered in Northern Ontario through FedNor, is part of the Government of Canada's coordinated approach to mark the 150th anniversary of Confederation. These investments across Canada will help create jobs, boost economic activity, strengthen communities, and celebrate Canada's rich heritage and history
