Government of Canada Invests $137,500 to Support Arts, Culture and Greater Sudbury’s Creative Economy

To help celebrate Canada's 150th anniversary of Confederation, the Government of Canada is investing $137,500 to support three local initiatives. As part of the total, FedNor is providing $100,000 for two projects that will help strengthen and grow Sudbury’s film and performing arts sectors. The remaining $37,500, provided through the Department of Canadian Heritage’s Canada 150 Fund, will be used to inform and educate young Sudburians on First Nations, Métis, and Inuit cultures.

Paul Lefebvre, Member of Parliament for Sudbury, made the announcement today at Theatre Cambrian on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for FedNor, and the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage. The three organizations receiving funding as part of this announcement are: Theatre Cambrian, Sudbury Downtown Independent Cinema Co-operative, and Laurentian University.
