Government of Canada investment helps improve access road to Northwestern Ontario First Nation community

The Indigenous community of Mitaanjigamiing First Nation is benefiting from key upgrades to its local access road network as a result of a Government of Canada investment of $300,000.

The funding was announced today by Don Rusnak, Member of Parliament for Thunder Bay—Rainy River, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for FedNor.

The FedNor funding enabled the community to make significant grading and drainage improvements to its access road. The much-needed improvements have helped to enhance the safety of the main access road and is assisting the community in its efforts to attract construction, mining, tourism and forestry development to its traditional lands.
