News release
The Timmins manufacturer is increasing production capacity to meet demand with the help of the Government of Canada
March 2, 2020 – Timmins, ON – Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario – FedNor
Established in 2010, DJB Mining Products & Services Ltd is a Timmins-based business offering a wide range of custom welding and fabrication services, mobile and in-house alignment boring, bucket repairs and rebuilds, heavy equipment repairs, and customized tractors for the mining industry. Since 2012, the company has undergone rapid growth, expanding its facilities, hiring new staff and increasing its hours of operations to run four shifts, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The business currently services the mining industry in Northern Ontario, British Columbia, Northern Quebec, Newfoundland and Labrador.
Improving operations for growth
DJB Mining Products & Services is facing growing demand for its specialized services. Fueling this growth is the establishment of strategic alliances with other companies and joint ventures with Indigenous companies and First Nations. To help meet this growing demand and continue its expansion into new markets, the company will purchase new equipment and invest in facility upgrades. As a result, the company expects to create up to 17 skilled positions.
As part of a visit to Timmins, the Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister of Labour, today announced a FedNor repayable contribution of $606,827 to enable DJB Mining Products & Services to complete its productivity and production capacity improvements. This announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages.
FedNor’s Targeted Manufacturing Initiative for Northern Ontario (TMINO) helps companies with fewer than 500 employees in the North to modernize their operations by upgrading and improving equipment used in the manufacturing process. Through this initiative and its other programs, the Government of Canada continues to work with Canadian manufacturers to help boost their productivity, increase sales and exports, and create jobs.
