FedNor investing over $460,000 to grow the economy in the Temiskaming Shores area

Federal funding will help support local long-standing businesses and foster continued economic growth in the region

 

August 9, 2023 – Temiskaming Shores, ON – Federal Economic Development Agency for Northern Ontario – FedNor

Today, the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Indigenous Services and Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Northern Ontario (FedNor) announced significant new investments totalling $462,496 in three projects to grow the economy in the Temiskaming Shores area.

The Honourable Anthony Rota, Member of Parliament for Nipissing—Timiskaming, detailed new funding to support projects in the Temiskaming Shores area including $299,996 for Three H Furniture Systems Limited to modernize and increase manufacturing and to expand their facility, $122,500 for Grant Farms to purchase and incorporate innovative and more environmentally friendly equipment, and $40,000 to Phillips Seeds Ltd. to support the design and construction of a storage and processing building.

These investments will help maintain a healthy regional economy, and will support continued economic growth in the area. In addition to the maintenance and growth of long-standing existing businesses, anticipated benefits of these investments include: the creation of 20 new jobs; increased product diversity, manufacturing capacity, and sales; and beneficial community impacts including improved sourcing of seed grains for local farmers, and the purchase and use of raw products produced in the region.

  • The projects being supported by today’s announcement are funded through the FedNor-administered Jobs and Growth Fund (JGF). JGF is a $700-million fund delivered by the regional development agencies (RDAs) to help businesses and the organizations who support them to future-proof, build resiliency, and prepare for growth by transitioning to a green economy, foster an inclusive recovery, enhance competitiveness, and create jobs. Of this support, $70 million has been dedicated to businesses and organizations created after January 2020.
