Recognizing veterinarians across Canada for Animal Health Week

Dr. Jaspinder Komal, acting Chief Veterinary Officer for Canada and Acting Delegate to the World Organisation for Animal Health, issued the following statement:

"Each year, through Animal Health Week, the veterinary community draws attention to an important animal health message. This year, from October 1-7, 2017, the focus is on Animal Welfare: Safeguarding the Five Animal Freedoms.

I would like to recognize, on behalf of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), the contributions that the veterinary community, both public and private, makes to enhancing animal welfare in Canada.

The CFIA supports the efforts of Canadian and international organizations that promote animal health, like the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association and the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE)."
