Canada to participate in annual Arctic Circle Assembly

Pamela Goldsmith-Jones, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, is visiting Reykjavik, Iceland, from October 7 to 9, 2016, to participate in the Arctic Circle Assembly.
The Arctic Circle, a broadly based circumpolar forum, was launched in 2013. Its main mission is to enable dialogue and build relationships among its members to address the Arctic’s greatest challenges. The annual Arctic Circle Assembly has become the largest international conference on the Arctic, attended by more than 2,000 participants from more than 50 countries.
Parliamentary Secretary Goldsmith-Jones will deliver remarks at a panel session entitled Canadian Arctic Policy: Recent Developments and the Way Ahead, organized by the Centre for International Governance Innovation.

- The inaugural Arctic Circle Assembly was held in October 2013 in Reykjavik, with over 1,200 participants from 40 countries attending.
