International development and trade ministers travel to Washington to participate in World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund meetings

The Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Minister of International Trade, and the Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of International Development and La Francophonie, today announced they will visit Washington, D.C., on October 7 to 8, 2016, to participate in meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

During her visit, Minister Bibeau will address the development committee and meet with representatives of the World Bank Group; ministers of finance, development and foreign affairs; heads of international organizations and other key partners.

While in Washington, the International Trade Minister will participate in an IMF high-level panel discussion to promote Canada’s leadership on inclusive economic growth for the middle class. The Minister will also hold a bilateral meeting with Roberto Azevêdo, Director-General of the World Trade Organization.
