Minister Bibeau launches calls for proposals for international internship opportunities for young Canadians

News Release

November 7, 2016 - Sherbrooke, Quebec - Global Affairs Canada

The Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of International Development and La Francophonie, today launched two youth-focused calls for proposals for international internship programs. The International Youth Internship Program (IYIP) and the International Aboriginal Youth Internships (IAYI) initiative will provide the leaders of today and tomorrow with valuable work experience abroad. These initiatives will engage Canadian youth on international development issues, such as women’s empowerment, economic growth, sustainable development and climate change.

Through these internship programs, the Government of Canada works with Canadian civil society organizations, such as universities, non-governmental organizations, colleges and private companies, in order to select potential interns to participate in international development projects.

Canadian and Aboriginal organizations with a minimum of two years of experience working in international development are invited to submit proposals to Global Affairs Canada.

The deadline to submit proposals for the IYIP is February 7, 2017. The deadline to submit proposals for the IAYI initiative is March 28, 2017.
