Canada to welcome Danish foreign minister

News Release

May 8 - Ottawa, Ontario - Global Affairs Canada

As partners and allies, Canada and Denmark have a long-standing relationship. Our ties are rooted in a mutual commitment to multilateral cooperation, and international peace and security, as well as inclusive, middle-class prosperity through investment and trade. Together we work on Northern issues and are active members of the Arctic Council. Canada and Denmark also collaborate closely on global security, and both were founding members of NATO in 1949.

The Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced that she will welcome Anders Samuelsen, Denmark’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, to Ottawa on May 9, 2017.

During their meeting, the ministers will discuss the Canada-Denmark bilateral relationship, as well as greater trade and investment opportunities stemming from the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and the Strategic Partnership Agreement.
