Invest Canada-Community Initiatives

Backgrounder

The Invest Canada-Community Initiatives (ICCI) program provides support to Canadian communities seeking to improve their capacity to attract, retain and expand foreign direct investment (FDI) in order to create jobs for Canadians, support innovation and increase exports.

The ICCI program provides funding for approved FDI projects. Overall, the program aims to increase Canadian employment and improve Canada’s capacity to compete in the global economy. Non-repayable contributions range from $3,000 to $300,000, and agreements are made for a one-year period, from January 1 to December 31. The ICCI program reimburses up to 50 percent of eligible expenses such as developing marketing tools aimed at foreign investors, FDI training, identifying and interacting with potential investors, and developing and implementing multi-year investment-attraction and -retention strategies.
