Le programme Investissement Canada-Initiatives des communautés (ICIC) offre un soutien aux collectivités canadiennes qui cherchent à améliorer leur capacité à attirer, à maintenir et à accroître les investissements directs étrangers (IDE) afin de créer des emplois pour les Canadiens, d’appuyer l’innovation et d’augmenter les exportations.

Le programme ICIC octroie du financement pour les projets d’IDE approuvés. L’objectif général du programme consiste à augmenter le nombre d’emplois au Canada et à améliorer la capacité du pays à occuper une position concurrentielle dans l’économie mondiale. Le gouvernement offre des fonds non remboursables se situant entre 3 000 $ et 300 000 $ au titre d’ententes conclues pour une période d’un an, soit du 1er janvier au 31 décembre. Le programme ICIC rembourse jusqu’à 50 % des dépenses admissibles consacrées entre autres au développement d’outils promotionnels visant les investisseurs étrangers, à la formation en matière d’IDE, à la recherche d’investisseurs potentiels ainsi qu’à l’interaction avec ces derniers, et au développement et à la mise en œuvre de stratégies pluriannuelles pour attirer et maintenir les investissements.
