Parliamentary Secretary DeCourcey to attend Informal Ministerial Meeting of Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe

Matt DeCourcey, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, announced today that he will visit Mauerbach, Austria, to attend the Informal Ministerial Meeting of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) on July 11, 2017. The theme of this year’s meeting is Building Trust Through Dialogue and Cooperation.
At the meeting, Parliamentary Secretary DeCourcey will participate in a plenary session, a working luncheon and a round-table discussion on security challenges facing the OSCE. Other topics of discussion include the conflict in and around Ukraine and the prevention of violent extremism and radicalization leading to terrorism.
While in Austria, Parliamentary Secretary DeCourcey will also hold bilateral meetings with counterparts from a number of other delegations attending the Informal Ministerial Meeting.

The OSCE is the world’s largest regional security organization and serves as a bridge for building security cooperation among countries in North America, Europe and central Asia, including Russia.
The OSCE works on early warning and prevention of conflict, crisis management and post-conflict rehabilitation in the European and central Asia region.
This OSCE Informal Ministerial Meeting will contribute to the preparations for the annual OSCE Ministerial Council, which will take place on December 7 and 8, 2017, in Vienna, Austria.
