Youth internships to enhance employability through experiences gained in Haiti, Nicaragua, Peru and Senegal

Backgrounder

The objective of the internships of the Carrefour de Solidarité Internationale de Sherbrooke [international solidarity centre in Sherbrooke] (CSI) is to encourage better job integration in Canada and abroad, especially in international development, for young Canadians.

From 2018 until 2022, the CSI will send 112 youth interns to Haiti, Nicaragua, Peru and Senegal. The internships will strengthen the skills of local beneficiaries. They will promote greater gender equality, democracy and citizen participation, more dialogue among local stakeholders and better economic and rural development that is environmentally responsible.

The interns will be able to apply their knowledge and skills acquired during their post-secondary education and their CSI training. Upon their return to Canada, they will be able to attend international development job fairs, networking sessions and public outreach activities in international development.
