News release

July 16, 2018 - Ottawa, Ontario - Global Affairs Canada

Canada and the United States benefit from the most successful bilateral economic partnership in history. Canada is the number one market for most U.S. states, while the United States is by far Canada’s largest export market. The Government of Canada is working to strengthen this relationship and foster greater opportunities for workers and businesses on both sides of the border.

As part of these efforts, Pamela Goldsmith-Jones, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Trade, will visit Washington, D.C. on July 17 to 18, 2018, to meet with legislators, and business and labour leaders.

Parliamentary Secretary Goldsmith-Jones will speak with Democratic and Republican members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. PS Goldsmith-Jones will meet with U.S. union representatives to discuss shared concerns about U.S. steel and aluminum tariffs. Meetings are also planned with women business leaders and other under-represented groups in trade.

Parliamentary Secretary Goldsmith-Jones will also meet with business executives from Cvent and Mars inc., where she will discuss investment expansion opportunities in Canada.
