Canada to participate in International Conference on Libya

Canada is committed to working closely with the people of Libya, the United Nations, our allies, and regional and international partners to advance political reconciliation, security and economic reforms in Libya.

The Honourable Stéphane Dion, Canada’s Special Envoy to the European Union and Europe, will represent Canada at the International Conference on Libya in Palermo, Italy, from November 12 to 13, 2018.

Canada fully supports the United Nations Action Plan for Libya, under the leadership of the Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Ghassan Salamé, to achieve a sustainable, Libyan-owned political solution. Canada is also delivering life-saving humanitarian assistance to those in need.

Canada hopes that the conference, hosted by Italy, will advance efforts to achieve a peaceful and unified Libya for the benefit of all Libyans.
