Minister Monsef will travel to Washington, D.C., for Spring Meetings of International Monetary Fund and World Bank Group

The Honourable Maryam Monsef, Minister of International Development and Minister for Women and Gender Equality, will travel to Washington, D.C., from April 12 to 13, 2019, to participate in the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group.

The Minister’s engagements will focus on several of Canada’s priorities, such as advancing the Sustainable Development Goals, the empowerment of women and girls and innovative financing for development.

Minister Monsef will underscore Canada’s support for countries neighbouring Venezuela that are affected by the crisis and speak to Canada’s commitment to women’s and girls’ education in conflict and crisis.

Minister Monsef will also lead a discussion with representatives from the World Bank and key humanitarian organizations to build a more gender-responsive humanitarian system, a follow-up to Canada’s commitment at last year’s G7.
