Minister of Foreign Affairs to welcome Cuban counterpart to Canada

The Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced that she will welcome Bruno Eduardo Rodríguez Parrilla, Cuba’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, to Toronto, Ontario, on Friday, June 7, 2019.
The meeting follows Minister Freeland’s visit to Havana, Cuba, on May 16, 2019. Earlier this week, the Minister attended a meeting of the Lima Group and the International Contact Group on Venezuela in New York City. Tomorrow, she will attend the 14th meeting of the Lima Group in Guatemala.
Minister Rodríguez Parrilla’s visit will provide an opportunity for both ministers to discuss the role that Cuba can play in a peaceful resolution to the crisis in Venezuela. Canada and Cuba will also discuss how they are responding to the U.S. decision to end the suspension of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act.
