Minister Ng announces upcoming trip to India to strengthen Canada-India trade relations

The Government of Canada is committed to ensuring a strong, inclusive and sustainable economic recovery, while creating jobs and generating growth by deepening commercial ties across the Indo-Pacific region, including with India.
Today, the Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of International Trade, Export Promotion, Small Business and Economic Development, kicked off the first women-only virtual business mission to India hosted by the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada (APF-Canada), in partnership with the Canada-India Business Council (C-IBC).
During the opening ceremony, Minister Ng announced that she will be travelling to India to strengthen Canada and India’s trade relationship and open new doors for Canadian businesses and exporters. She will meet with her counterpart Minister Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs and Food and Public Distribution and Textiles, and hold a Ministerial Dialogue on Trade and Investment. India offers extensive opportunities for Canadian businesses and entrepreneurs to introduce their innovative and world-class products and services to a dynamic and growing market.
Minister Ng also encouraged all women entrepreneurs to take full advantage of Canada’s trade toolkit, which is comprised of the Business Development Bank of Canada, Export Development Canada, and the Trade Commissioner Service (TCS). With over 160 offices worldwide, including 8 in India, the TCS provides on-the-ground support, expert market knowledge, and local contacts that help businesses succeed abroad.
This virtual business mission is supported through the Government of Canada’s Women Entrepreneurship Strategy (WES), which represents a more than $6-billion-dollar investment to support Canadian women entrepreneurs in expanding their businesses across Canada and abroad. The Government of Canada will continue to support Canadian women entrepreneurs to start up, scale up, and expand their businesses around the world, including in India.
