Minister Ng meets with Julio José Prado, Ecuador’s Minister of Production, Foreign Trade, Investments and Fisheries

Today, the Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of International Trade, Export Promotion, Small Business and Economic Development, met virtually with Julio José Prado, Ecuador’s Minister of Production, Foreign Trade, Investments and Fisheries.
Minister Ng and Minister Prado discussed next steps toward launching full negotiations on a Canada-Ecuador free trade agreement. Exploratory discussions began in February 2023 and will conclude this month.
Minister Ng also noted Canadian companies’ leading role as investors in Ecuador’s natural resources sector and highlighted Canada’s interest in exploring other opportunities such as infrastructure projects in the country.
