Sophie Chatel was elected as the Member of Parliament for Pontiac—Kitigan Zibi in September, 2021. Ms. Chatel began her career in private law and accounting, before moving to the federal public service. Ms. Chatel entered politics driven by the challenges of transitioning to a green economy, and is committed to sustainable and inclusive policymaking and working toward building a green and prosperous future. She works hard to deliver on her four key commitments: affordable housing, securing funding for vital infrastructure, expanding transportation options to improve connectivity, and protecting our green spaces like the Gatineau Park.
Ms. Chatel has a Bachelor of Laws from the Université de Montréal and a Master of Taxation from the Université de Sherbrooke, and is a Chartered Professional Accountant. She has a deep love of Quebec and Canadian nature, which fuels her determination to protect it.
