Equitable Access to Language Training Program

Description of Program

The Equitable Access to Language Training Program is provided by Health Canada (HC) to indeterminate HC and Public Health Agency (PHAC) employees. Its primary purpose is to offer language training opportunities to employees who have self-identified as members of employment equity groups (persons with disabilities, Indigenous peoples, and visible minorities) and are in indeterminate positions.

Why was a Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) completed?

It was determined that the Equitable Access to Language Training Program required a PIA because it uses personal information as part of a decision‐making process that directly affects the individual.

More Information

This PIA focused on Health Canada's use, disclosure, retention, and disposition of personal information involved in the Equitable Access to Language Training Program's business processes.

As part of completing PIA recommendations, the Equitable Access to Language Training Program has revised and clarified language in the application and consent form, as well sought advice from Information Management advisors to ensure proper retention schedules for personal information.

If you would like more information about this Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) please contact the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Office.
