Message from the Honourable Jane Philpott, Minister of Health
Statement
Family Doctor Week in Canada
November 7 – 12, 2016
I am pleased to acknowledge Family Doctor Week in Canada, November 7-12, 2016. This week, we take the opportunity to recognize the importance of family medicine practitioners, their achievements and the vital role they play in the lives of Canadians.
The Government of Canada recognizes that family doctors have a key role to play in sustaining and improving our health care system, and that improvements will only be achieved with the meaningful engagement of all our partners, including family doctors.
I applaud organizations such as the College of Family Physicians of Canada, which promotes high-quality health care, medical education, and care in family practices to improve the health and well-being of all patients. This organization continues to support improved primary care for a more efficient and effective health care system.
I encourage all Canadians to take time this week to thank family doctors for their dedication in keeping Canadians healthy. Happy family doctor week!
The Honourable Jane Philpott, P.C., M.P.
