Cyanides
Information sheet
These substances were identified for action under the Chemicals Management Plan (CMP).
The ecological portion of the screening assessment used a moiety-based approach and thereby includes free (unbound) cyanide [hydrogen cyanide (HCN) and the cyanide anion (CN-)] and precursors of free cyanide. As such, the ecological moiety assessment is not limited to consideration of the 10 substances having met the categorization criteria. The human health portion of the screening assessment focuses on the 10 cyanides that were identified as priorities for assessment.
