The risk assessment approach presented here is based primarily on the standard Preliminary Quantitative Risk Assessment (PQRA) and Detailed Quantitative Risk Assessment (DQRA) approach described by Health Canada for contaminated sites but has been modified specifically for the assessment of chemicals in air. This guidance document is intended to provide guidance and information on key issues and methods with regard to human health risk assessments of chemicals in air for application at federal contaminated sites in Canada.

The Federal Contaminated Sites Action Plan (FCSAP) is a program of the Government of Canada designed to achieve improved and continuing federal environmental stewardship as it relates to contaminated sites located on federally owned or operated properties or non-federal lands for which the federal government has accepted full responsibility.
