All pesticides used in Canada must be registered under the Pest Control Products Act. Pesticides are re-evaluated to ensure that they continue to meet health and environmental requirements. Re-evaluation may result in the revocation of a product or product uses. Health Canada may also request changes to a product's label, including mitigation measures, use sites and application methods.
Methomyl is used in agriculture, forestry and as a granular bait in barns, poultry houses, feedlots and kennels. Highlights of the re-evaluation decisions of the active ingredient methomyl, published on March 29, 2018, are summarized below.

Cancelled uses
Stop use on the following crops and sites:
- apple
- barley
- canola
- flax
- lettuce
- oat
- potato
- snap beans
- tomato
- tobacco
- wheat
- balsam fir and spruce in farm woodlots and rights-of-ways
Other risk reduction measures
- Limit of one application per year on the following crops:
- broccoli
- Brussels sprouts
- cabbage
- cauliflower
- succulent shelled peas
- sweet corn
- Updated restricted-entry intervals (REI)
- Added warnings to protect bees and other non-target organisms
- Application prohibited after August 15 of each year on the following crops:
- broccoli
- Brussels sprouts
- cabbage
- cauliflower
- sweet corn
- Prohibited for use indoors or in residential areas
- Any granules spilled or exposed on the ground must be buried or collected
- Updated buffer zones updated
- Added warnings against runoff and leaching
- Addition of a statement concerning the possibility of reaching groundwater in areas where soils are permeable
Users must follow the instructions on the updated labels.
Using a pesticide contrary to the label directions is a violation of the Pest Control Products Act.
