Backgrounder

Investments of nearly $25.7 million

Public Transit Infrastructure Fund

The governments of Canada and Quebec are investing $1,597,500 in one project for the Autorité régionale de transport métropolitain (ARTM) and $24,091,675 in 15 projects for the Réseau de transport métropolitain to improve commute times, reduce air pollution, strengthen communities and grow the regional economy.

The Government of Canada is contributing $14,271,764 to all 16 projects, representing 50 percent of the total eligible costs, and the Government of Quebec is providing $11,471,411, representing 40 percent of the total eligible costs. The ARTM will provide the remaining funding.
